Overview
Choosing the right DNA test starts with your goal
Every DNA test compares genetic markers between people, but the right test depends on two things: who is available to give a sample, and what the result needs to do. A father who wants private reassurance needs something very different from a mother preparing for a custody hearing, or a family completing an immigration petition.
Use the categories below to find the test that matches your situation. Each service has its own page with details on who it suits, what is included, how collection works and the questions families most often ask. If you are not sure where you fit, that is completely normal. Reach out and we will help you sort it out.

A missing, unwilling or deceased alleged father does not always mean the end of the search. His parents, full brothers and sisters, or other children share part of his DNA and can stand in for an indirect comparison.

Service questions
Common questions about choosing a test
Can I switch from a private test to a legal test?
Usually a new documented collection is needed, because a private test does not record verified identities. If there is any chance you will need an official result, start with legal testing.
Which test is right if we are not sure who the father is?
Each alleged father can be compared with the child. Contact us and we will explain how that is arranged.
Do all tests use a cheek swab?
Most do. Prenatal testing is the main exception, since it uses a blood sample from the mother.
Not sure which test fits?
Tell us about your situation and we will point you toward the right DNA test for your family.
